The Detailed, 7 Days December Holiday Packages to Kenya Itinerary 

Christmas is time to celebrate with family and friends and that what you get when you book our 7 Days, 6 Nights December holiday packages. Here is the detailed itinerary of the safari. 

Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi, Transfer to Ol Pejeta, & Afternoon Game Drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy 

Our Christmas travel deals begin with a morning pickup from Nairobi. This could be the airport, hotel, or residence. You will get a short briefing about the safari from our professional safari guide. 

After, the safari guide will welcome you to your exclusive 4×4 safari land cruiser and start the drive through large estates of lush coffee and tea to Ol Pejeta. On request, the driver will stop at Equator Marker to allow you to take photos before you continue with the safari.

The road trip takes about 3 hours 30 minutes, meaning you should arrive at your chosen Nanyuki accommodation in time for lunch. You will start by checking into the hotel, take lunch, and later head to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

A Guide to Ol Pejeta Conservancy 

Ol Pejeta is a 364 sq. km. wildlife heaven located between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. Its animal-to-area ratio is unmatched in Africa, and you find over 10,000 large mammals in this conservancy.

It is the only place you can find chimpanzees and the Big Five and is known for its large population of rhinos. The conservancy is home to over 135 endangered black rhinos, several southern white rhinos, and the last two northern white rhinos in the world.

You will also find hundreds of bird species. The Conservancy has an education center where you can learn about conservation and meet the Maasai, Pokot, Turkana, and Samburu people. 

Day 2: Early Morning Game Drive at Ol Pejeta, Transfer to Samburu, & Afternoon Game Drive at Samburu National Reserve 

Today, you will start early to ensure you get into the real jungle after breakfast. Morning is the best time to spot different animals, including the Big Five.

Other animals to watch out for include Thomson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, oryx, waterbuck, eland, cheetah, jackals, lion, leopard, zebras, giraffe, baboons, and hundreds of birds.

You will then leave the conservancy at around 9 am and enjoy a 3 hours 10 minutes road trip to Samburu. The road is well-maintained and passes through different villages and various landscapes.

You will head straight to the hotel, check in, take lunch and head out for an afternoon game drive at Samburu National Reserve. The game drive will continue to around 6 pm, the perfect time to head back to the camo for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive at Samburu National Reserve with Packed Lunch

Your day should start early with a morning game drive at around 7 am after breakfast. This time you might see animals grazing inside the reserve, such as buffalos, rhinos, zebras, antelopes, and more.

The park also hosts the Big Five and is easy to spot when considering it a semi-arid region. They are often found near water bodies and places with lush green vegetation and acacia trees.

The morning game drive will soon turn into an afternoon one after taking lunch from the jungle. In the afternoon, you will look for special attractions: the Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, vultures, and Beisa oryx. The game drive will continue until dusk.

A Guide to Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Park is located on the southeastern side of Samburu county in Kenya. It borders the Ewaso Nyiro River to the south and neighbors the famous Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

The park covers around 165 sq. km. and is packed with wildlife, making it the ideal destination for a Kenya safari this December. It is home to the Samburu Five, the Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebras, Beisa oryx, gerenuks, and the Reticulated giraffes.

The park also hosts large predators such as cheetah, lion, leopard, wild dogs, and over 450 species of birds and elephants.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Nakuru & Afternoon Game Drive at Lake Nakuru National Park

After a heavy breakfast at around 6 am, your trip turns southwards toward Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake is about 6 hours from Samburu, and you should arrive around noon. 

You will check into the hotel, take lunch, and then rest. You will also go for a game drive at Nakuru National Park in the afternoon. You might spot different animals and birds such as antelopes, pelicans, buffalos, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and more.    

A Guide to Lake Nakuru National Park

Nakuru National Park covers a compact area of 188 sq. km, making it accessible and perfect for game viewing. It offers a blazing flock of flamingos – millions of them during July, August, and September.

The attraction has other species of birds, such as eagles, kingfishers, herons, storks, pelicans, ostriches, and cormorants. But that is just the beginning because the park hosts a wide variety of wildlife.

These include the rare Rothschild’s giraffe, white rhino, and black rhino. Other animals include olive baboon, hippo, zebra, colobus, vervet monkey, hyena, and waterbuck.

You also find buffalo, leopard, cheetah, and lion. The reserve has rocky escarpments towering over wooded hills, euphorbia trees, waterfalls, and acacia forests.
