The Detailed 3 Days, 2 Nights Masai Mara Flying Safari from Nairobi Itinerary
Our 3 days Masai Mara flying safari provides you with the opportunity to see the best of Kenya in a short time. Below is the detailed 3 days safari in Kenya itinerary.
Day 1: Fly from Nairobi to Masai Mara - Mid-Morning and Afternoon Game Drives
Your badged, always smiling guide will be there when you fly in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. We will warmly welcome you to Kenya, and after pleasantries, we will shop for anything else you might need for your trip to Kenya.
Your tour guide will then drive you for a half-an-hour-away to the Wilson Airport for your 45-minute flight into the Masai Mara. On arrival, our Masai Mara guide will pick you up and head to the reserve for game drives.
Later, the guide will transfer you to the hotel for check-in and lunch. You will then have an afternoon game drive. We drive deep into the Mara in search of the almost 96 different mammal species in the park.
Our guides will help you spot them out while at the same time explaining their behavior and adaptation to the complex ecosystem. The big five, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, cheetahs, and foxes, are among some of the animals you should look forward to seeing.
Evening game drives typically extend until nightfall, after which we drive back to the lodge.
Day 2: Optional Hot Air Balloon - Full-Day Game Drive at Masai Mara
There are two types of sunsets—the damn-it’s-morning kind of sunset and the Masai Mara kind of sunset. On day two, you can get to experience the magical Mara sunset atop a hot air balloon at an additional cost of USD 475 per person. The balloons explore parts of the Mara that are inaccessible by either car or foot.
The pilot will fly you high above the shrubs but low enough for you to have a closer look. The landscape will blow your mind from up there, especially that of the hippo and crocodile-filled Mara River.
The safaris are hour-long, and they are mostly climaxed with a beautifully set bush breakfast with champagne. If you take the balloon, our game drive commences after the hot air balloon ride at 9 am. The drive begins at around 6.30 am if you don’t take the balloon safari.
Morning game drives are usually the most rewarding. You are more likely to spot a pride of lions hunting in the morning than in the afternoon. The animals are most active now, with hundreds of them grazing or feeding on the open savannah grasslands.
We explore the different typographies here, depending on our highly knowledgeable guides to lead us to the high traffic areas. We stopped to enjoy our packed lunch in the wild.
Afternoon game drives, though not as busy as the morning ones, are an absolute delight. By this time, the sun is usually hell-hot, all roads leading to the Mara River for some water and cooling off. Impalas, gazelles, zebras, giraffes, and rhinos are easier to spot at this time.
Tourists that book the 3 days Maasai Mara flying safari package between July and October should expect to be treated to the Great Migration spectacle. The migration sees millions of wildebeests, zebras, topis, and impalas move to and from the park through the crocodile-infested Mara River.
Day 3: Optional Morning Game Drive & Flight to Nairobi
Each game drive is uniquely different from the rest. What you spot in one is not what you will spot in the next one. Today’s game drive starts at dawn (ONLY OF STAYING INSIDE THE RESERVE). At around 9 am, the guide will transfer you to the airstrip to catch a flight to Nairobi.
Our Nairobi guide will then transfer you to JKIA.
